Welcome to Cuelia Therapy

For lasting change, we must look within - this takes courage, introspection, time and commitment

YOU are worth it

Psychotherapy - Transpersonal

The term "transpersonal" means things that go beyond just yourself, focusing on experiences that are bigger than everyday needs or personal limits. Transpersonal psychology is a branch of psychology that looks at spiritual and uplifting experiences, trying to combine these ideas with regular psychology to help people grow and reach their full potential.

Transpersonal therapy takes a broad approach, mixing modern psychology with spiritual ideas to help you develop, question your beliefs to find which come from your truth, understand yourself better, and heal emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

This way of working focuses on who you really are deep down—not just your ego—and aims to help you grow as a person, discover your true self, and feel more connected to life and the world around you.

Spiritual Enquiry

Spiritual enquiry is turning inward to explore the true nature of self, consciousness, and life’s deeper meaning, who you really are and what life is all about. It’s about paying attention to your thoughts and feelings and asking big questions like “Who am I?”—not just reading or learning, but trying to feel the answers for yourself.

Through spiritual enquiry, a person reflects on their internal experiences—their thoughts, emotions, and sense of identity—to discover what truly underlies existence and awareness. The aim is not just to understand these things intellectually but to directly experience and awaken to one's genuine self or heightened awareness.

Spiritual enquiry can make things like yoga or meditation even more meaningful because you’re exploring your own experience instead of just copying outside advice. In the end, it helps you discover your true self beyond old habits, old and untrue beliefs, giving you more understanding and freedom.

Therapeutic Coaching

Coaching is a partnership where both parties work together to set goals and find effective ways to achieve them, supporting growth and unlocking potential. The therapeutic process encourages exploration of personal experiences, without judgment and aims to support individual empowerment by understanding the lessons these experiences give us, exposing any limiting thoughts or beliefs that have developed as a result. Coaching techniques such as engaging dialogue, empowerment, and creative strategies help clients stay motivated and reach their goals. As a psychotherapist, I build on this by looking into unconscious patterns, tackling limiting beliefs, and finding emotional obstacles that could hold back progress.

The Inner Child

Exploring our inner child helps us to understand how our early experiences shape present thoughts and behaviours. By recognising unmet childhood needs and examining beliefs formed in youth, we can better understand emotional patterns, motivations, and triggers. This process validates past influences from caregivers, education, culture, and society, providing insight into ongoing psychological challenges.

Difficulties with emotions during childhood may lead to coping strategies like suppression, resulting in unresolved issues affecting adult behaviours. Engaging with our inner child increases self-awareness and helps address limiting beliefs and low self-esteem that is an obstacle to reaching our potential.

Self-compassion, embracing strengths and vulnerabilities, and observing internal processes without judgment support personal growth. Healing involves accepting past difficulties and imperfections, nurturing the self, and finding empowerment in an individual's story. This approach enables more confident navigation of life's challenges, clearer actions aligned with values, and a sense of purpose.

Specialism in working with ADHD

With extensive personal and professional experience, I have been supporting individuals with ADHD for many years,  helping clients understand their traits and harness their strengths for greater fulfilment. I also advocate for better education about ADHD as when missed it often leads to psychological distress. Increasingly, people with an existing diagnosis may also identify with autism (or vice versa), so it is important to consider this when assessing individual presentations.

Ultimately, the goal is to empower people to work with their unique minds, embrace authenticity, avoid being defined by external expectations and pursue a life defined by our personal strengths. To change our lives to fit us not the other way round.

Energy healing

Energy healing is very similar to spiritual healing and some may use the terms interchangeably. In energy healing, it’s believed that illness can be caused by a disruption of energy in the body. Energy healers will use different techniques (including drawing on universal/divine energy) to remove blockages, restore energy flow and encourage natural healing.

This premise is an ancient one that spans different modalities and cultures. Some follow the theory that we have energy centres in the body, known as chakras, which affect different areas of our lives.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese practice focused on channelling universal life force energy to encourage relaxation, relieve stress, and support overall health.

The term “Reiki” combines “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life force energy. It is based on the thought that energy runs through every living being, affecting their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Practitioners who have completed training and received an attunement—a spiritual process led by a Reiki Master that connects them to this energy—use their hands to gently touch or hover over specific body areas. This technique is intended to help energy flow freely and remove blockages, with the belief that energy passes from practitioner to client, encouraging relaxation, stress reduction, emotional processing and assisting the body’s natural ability to heal. Reiki is considered a complementary therapy and not as a replacement for conventional medical care.

In essence, Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive method intended to enhance relaxation, reduce stress, and support holistic health by working with the body’s energy system.

Cuelia

The name Cuelia holds profound meaning for me, rooted in my childhood and the cherished connection I shared with my late sister, Dawn. Launching my own business (motivated by the desire to heal after her passing) has provided me with a new purpose, allowing me to support others along their journey.

About Me

For many years my self-esteem depended heavily on academic accomplishments and professional achievements, shaped by early life experiences and societal norms setting incorrect core beliefs. Although I built a relatively successful career as a Systems Engineer, I found it hard to reconcile my achievements and the positive feedback with how I truly felt inside, often experiencing imposter syndrome and lacking genuine confidence.

It was the devastating loss of my sister and the ensuing search for meaning that pushed me to reconsider my values, revealing that lasting fulfilment wasn’t found in the corporate IT sector.

Feeling powerless and directionless, I realised it was up to me to initiate change if I wanted a different outcome. I started questioning those beliefs, beginning with the idea that I lacked academic ability.

Returning to education I began to rewrite the narrative as I earned qualifications in complementary therapies and mental health, including Reiki, Reflexology, Hypnotherapy, Counselling, and Psychotherapy. The counselling journey profoundly transformed my life, enabling me to overcome deep-rooted limiting beliefs from childhood in recognising they were not my truth after all. Through confronting suppressed emotions and embracing inner child work, I discovered genuine self-worth and authenticity.

After healing from various traumas, I now support others with empathy and insight. My journey goes on as I explore transpersonal psychology and seek authentic spiritual purpose. Through spiritual growth and tuning into my intuition, I continue to examine—and eventually reshape—the narrative that influenced feelings of being unwanted, out of place, alone and very fearful.
